AB&I Foundry is a U.S. manufacturer of cast iron soil pipe and fittings for storm and sanitary plumbing systems.
The value of the contract amounts to a total of around $300 million over five years.
VanKirk, who was the CEO of Progressive Foundry, was a prominent member of his community.
The facility laid off almost all of its 221 employees in late June when the previous owner entered foreclosure. Some assets were purchased in July by Faircast, and production restarted in July.
The project would add up to 20 jobs by 2020.
Installation of the new system started during their summer shutdown which began on July 24th. The new closed loop cooling system is expected to be more efficient and also reduce maintenance costs while eliminating unnecessary downtime.
The plant is expected to be completed by the fall of 2018 and will take the place of a facility in East Jordan, Michigan.
Skuld LLC is focused on innovating in the metalcasting industry. They are offering near net shape steel lost foam castings and offering this technology in stainless and low carbon steels. Skuld also offers thin walled ductile iron going down as thin as 0.070 in., which gives it the ability to use castings to replace stampings.
The molding line includes state-of-the-art programmable logic controls, powered conveyors from molding to pouring, a mass flow binder control system and a rollover capable of handling up to a 72 x 48 x 36 in. mold section.
