AFS releases foundry wage and salary reports
The American Foundry Society has released a pair of reports detailing standard compensation practices in North American metalcasting plants. The reports can be used by foundries to attract and retain employees and negotiate union contracts.
Foundry Leadership Conference attracts global crowd
Foundry leaders from seven countries spanning three continents gathered in Amelia Island, Florida, Sept. 16-18 for the 2018 AFS Foundry Leadership Conference.
Attendees expressed enthusiasm for the content of the event. As one said, “Innovation and disruption were terrific! Economics and political policy discussions are always useful.”
Bremen announces agreement to use 3-D printing technology
The companies will accelerate product development for hydraulics customers by using 3-D printing technology. BCI and Eaton will use a 3-D printer from AFS Corporate Member ExOne in the foundry and machine shop at BCI.

Boose Foundry holds Thanksgiving food drive
The initiative drew more than $1,300 in donations and collected 350 items. Boose Foundry will donate an additional $250 that will help feed 75 local families.

According to a news release, the company has laid the groundwork for employee ownership with an employee stock ownership program. By doing that, the company will assure the ownership is remaining local.
