At the 2025 CastExpo in Atlanta, five distinguished leaders will be honored by the American Foundry Society (AFS) for their outstanding contributions to the metalcasting industry. The Peter L. Simpson Gold Medal and William H. Statistical process control (SPC) is one of the seven basic quality tools, but many manufacturing professionals don’t understand it – or are intimidated by it – because of its heavy reliance on high-level mathematics. A new course from the AFS Institute simplifies this complex method, giving quality control personnel, engineers, and other metalcasters the tools they need to put SPC to work for them, improving their output.

After several years of offering Live Online metalcasting courses exclusively, in-person classes are returning to the Institute’s classroom in Schaumburg, Illinois, beginning with Introduction to Metalcasting on June 1-2, 2022. Registration for this and other courses is now open.
