Particulate emissions have been a major pollutant of interest to the foundry industry for decades. Most particulate regulations now address both filterable and more recently condensable matter that may result from process operations but could also occur due to atmospheric reactions between chemicals.
It is important foundries understand regulations and guidance associated with condensable portion of PM as well as understand the emissions test methods used to quantify their rates. In addition, it is imperative that foundries understand the operations that may emit particulates in condensable form as well as recognize possible rates of emissions.
