Grede to Be Honored at CastExpo for 2016 Energy Star Partner of the Year Award

AFS Corporate Member Grede, an MPG Inc. company, has been recognized with a 2016 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year–Energy Management Award by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year recognizes world class corporate energy management programs.

Grede is the first metalcasting facility to receive the award, which is presented by the EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to organizations that demonstrate improved energy performance of buildings and plants through a corporate-wide energy program. Grede will be recognized at an Awards ceremony on April 13 in Washington, D.C., as well as during the American Foundry Society’s CastExpo in Minneapolis, on April 16.

In 2015, Grede completed 235 Continuous Improvement and ENERGY STAR projects, saving enough energy to power 1,000 homes for one year. Overall, Grede’s energy intensity has reduced 5% over the last 3 years.

Since its inception in 1992, ENERGY STAR and its partners have helped prevent a total of more than 2.4 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2014 alone, ENERGY STAR and its partners provided more than $11 billion in societal benefits due to reducing damages from climate change.

Grede Holdings LLC has 4,600 employees and operates 11 metalcasting facilities, one lost foam plant and two machining operations in North America serving the transportation and industrial markets globally.
