Jean Bye, president and CEO, Dotson Iron Castings, will share a keynote speech at the AFS 2018 Metalcasting Congress on the challenging story of how the Dotson foundry and its employees responded to a disastrous fire.
In the wee hours of Sept. 23, 2017, a fire erupted at Dotson Iron Castings in Mankato, Minnesota. The fire destroyed all the foundry’s molding capabilities and completely shut down operations at Dotson.
Bye’s presentation, to be given April 3 at 10:30 a.m., will cover how Dotson employees showed determination and resilience by immediately starting a recovery effort that went beyond the existing disaster recovery plan. Bye will tell of the many surprises and lessons learned through the recovery, and what it means to prepare for disasters.
The 2018 Metalcasting Congress will be held at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
