AFS publishes benchmarking information on wages and benefits at North American foundries to help metalcasters attract and retain talent, negotiate union contracts and manager/executive salaries, and inform employers about standard compensation practices.
To provide this knowledge to the industry, AFS works with an independent third party, Profit Planning Group, to collect anonymized data with a pair of confidential surveys, the AFS Professional and Technical Salaried Survey and the AFS Foundry Hourly Wage and Benefits Survey. These surveys gather information about compensation and benefits, including vacation, insurance, raises/bonuses, retirement plans, and shift premiums. AFS is not involved in analyzing or compiling this data, which is kept confidential. Only the names of participating companies are reported directly to AFS.
- The Professional and Technical Salaried Survey collects data on compensation for salaried foundry positions.
- The Foundry Hourly Wage and Benefits Survey collects data on compensation for hourly employees.
AFS Corporate Member metalcasters who complete these surveys will receive complimentary copies of each wage and salary report – to receive both, companies must complete both.
