AFS highlighted metalcasting careers to students, teachers, and families during its Manufacturing Day Open House on Oct. 4, 2019.

Across the U.S., foundries are struggling to find enough workers. To help the industry reach the audience of potential metalcasters who are making career choices, the American Foundry Society has produced a video sharing the exciting story of rewarding careers in metalcasting.

“The Future of Careers in Metalcasting” features interviews with young metalcasting professionals – engineers, shop floor employees, salespeople, and more. These interviewees explain why they think metalcasting is the right career choice.

After pouring molten metal during the American Foundry Society’s Manufacturing Day open house, a student had a predictable reaction. “This is really cool,” he said.

Along with AFS Corporate Members across the country, the American Foundry Society will celebrate Manufacturing Day with hands-on metalcasting demonstrations and an open house for students at its headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois, on Friday, Oct. 5.
