SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The American Foundry Society (AFS) is pleased to announce the newest appointments to its Technical Council and Research Board, effective April 2024. These appointments recognize distinguished professionals for their contributions to the metalcasting industry and their commitment to advancing the field.
New Appointments to the AFS Technical Council:
- Jacob Belke (Mercury Marine) has been selected as the incoming Secretary-Elect.
- Brandon Reneau (Caterpillar) and Jason Walker (Ohio State University) will serve two-year terms as Members At-Large.
Additionally, key leadership transitions will take place:
- Tim Hoyt (Allied Minerals) will assume the role of Chair.
- Mark Osborne (Wabtec) will step into the role of Vice Chair.
- Eric Nelson (Eric Nelson Consulting LLC) will take on the role of Secretary.
AFS extends its gratitude to Adam Kopper (Mercury Marine), who will rotate into the Past Chair position, as well as Brian Rachwitz (EJ) and Carl Söderhjelm (UCI) for their dedicated service as their terms conclude in April.
The AFS Technical Council plays a vital role in overseeing divisional activities, managing the Honorary Lectures & Papers Committee, and driving technical innovation within the industry. The Research Board oversees the selection of AFS-funded research projects, the Simpson Fellowship Endowment Grants, and the FEF/IJMC Student Casting Competition.
AFS congratulates these industry leaders on their new roles and thanks all outgoing members for their invaluable contributions to the success and advancement of the AFS mission.
