(SCHAUMBURG, IL) The American Foundry Society (AFS), North America’s largest metalcasting organization, announced today that Brad Muller will represent AFS and the United States on the Executive Committee of the World Foundry Organization (WFO).
Muller is Vice President, Corporate Communications, at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry. He is also Immediate Past President of AFS, past Chair of the AFS Government Affairs Committee, and a member of the Board of Directors for the Coalition for a Prosperous America. He brings more than 35 years of experience in public and corporate affairs, international and government relations, manufacturing and business marketing, crisis management and media training.
He previously worked for the Agency for International Development (USAID) in the Bush (41) Administration as a desk officer, managing foreign aid programs for Afghanistan and later for Central and Eastern Europe. At Edelman PR, one of the world’s leading public relations firms, he put his foreign policy experience to work for the late Michael Deaver, former Deputy Chief of Staff to President Ronald Reagan, on a variety of public affairs, international relations, and trade issues.
The WFO is an organization of country-specific foundry societies that aims to be a center of strategic knowledge to develop, enhance and improve the production of metal castings. AFS has participated in the WFO for many years in order to stay engaged in the global foundry community. As the exclusive WFO member society for the United States, AFS is the sole North American distributor of the WFO’s annual World Casting Census, which is offered at no cost to AFS Corporate Members.
“Brad Muller follows in a long line of distinguished foundry executives who have represented AFS and the United States on the WFO Executive Committee, including Chris Norch, Denny Dotson, Don Huizenga, Rick James, Conner Warren and others,” commented Angela Schmeisser, the AFS President. “In appointing Brad to this role, the AFS Board of Directors recognizes Brad’s strong background in leadership and international affairs, as well as his ability to effectively represent the U.S. perspective on matters that come before the WFO.”
“I am honored to have been recommended for this role and to represent AFS and the United States on the WFO Executive Committee, following in the footsteps of so many other amazing AFS leaders,” said Muller. “With trade and technology policies having a major impact on the metalcasting industry, I look forward to representing the American viewpoint on matters of international discussion.”
The WFO will be presenting the 2025 World Technical Forum in conjunction with CastExpo 2025, April 12-15 in Atlanta. There will be technical sessions, a meeting of the WFO Executive Committee, a meeting of the WFO General Assembly where AFS will be represented by CEO Doug Kurkul, and large numbers of international attendees. CastExpo registration is open at this link.
