The American Foundry Society (AFS) is pleased to announce the addition of two new employees who have joined our team over the past few weeks. We are excited to welcome Shelby Goldman and John Belmont to AFS and look forward to the expertise and enthusiasm they bring to their respective roles.
Shelby Goldman – Assistant Director of Training Solutions
Shelby Goldman joined AFS on May 20th as the Assistant Director of Training Solutions with the Institute, and will be based in the Chicago area. Reporting to Jen Christian, Director of Training Solutions, Shelby will play a key role in developing and implementing educational programs.
Shelby brings a wealth of experience from her previous role at Saga Education, where she served as the Resident Site Director. Prior to that, she was a teacher for Chicago Public Schools.
Shelby earned a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Wooster in 2015, a Master of Arts in Teaching from National Louis University in 2019, and she is currently pursuing her Master of Education at DePaul University of Chicago.
John Belmont – Senior Director, Marketing & Communications
John Belmont joined AFS on June 3rd as our Senior Director, Marketing & Communications, and will be based in Chicago. Reporting to Doug Kurkul, CEO, John will oversee AFS's marketing and communications strategy and tactical work.
John brings extensive marketing and communications experience across B2B, for-profit/non-profit, and association environments in various industries. He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism with a concentration in advertising and marketing from Marquette University. John's specific experience includes association marketing, recruitment and retention programs, digital and social communications and engagement, publications, events, brand management, and content development.
