Blackburn, Braun, Miller-Meeks to Receive AFS Congressional Champion Awards

The American Foundry Society is proud to announce that Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Sen. Mike Braun of Indiana, and Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks of Iowa will be recipients of the prestigious 2024 AFS Congressional Champion Award. The awards will be presented during the AFS Government Affairs Fly-In on June 11, 2024, at the Capitol Hill Club in Washington, D.C.

The AFS Congressional Champion Award is bestowed upon members of Congress who have displayed unwavering dedication and support for the metalcasting industry on a national level. Past winners include Sen. John Cornyn, Rep. Kay Granger, and Sen. Pat Toomey. This year’s recipients have consistently demonstrated their commitment to advancing policies that bolster the growth and sustainability of the metalcasting sector.

"Sen. Blackburn, Sen. Braun, and Congresswoman Miller-Meeks have been tireless advocates for the metalcasting industry, championing legislation and initiatives that promote economic prosperity and job creation," said AFS CEO Doug Kurkul. "Their leadership and steadfast support have been instrumental in advancing the interests of U.S. metalcasters."

The AFS Government Affairs Fly-In provides an invaluable opportunity for industry leaders to engage directly with policymakers on key issues impacting the metalcasting sector. The event brings together stakeholders from across the country to discuss legislative priorities and advocate for policies that enhance the competitiveness of American manufacturing. All U.S. foundries are encouraged to send at least one representative to the event, which includes face-to-face advocacy as well as informative presentations from Washington insiders. Notable speakers at this year's Fly-In include political strategist Karl Rove and Rep. Mike Rogers of Alabama.
