AFS Accepting Nominations for Board of Directors

The American Foundry Society is accepting nominations for candidates to serve on the AFS Board of Directors for four-year terms commencing in April 2024. The window for nominations will remain open through October 3, 2023.

The Directors Class of 2024-2028 will include four individuals. The qualifications and guidelines are as follows:

• Must be an active AFS member, based full-time in North America.
• Should be in a top management position with experience in fiscal management, developing long-range policy, or possessing other leadership qualities relevant to the AFS mission.

To nominate a candidate for consideration, the nominating party should complete the AFS Nomination for Board of Directors form. Self-nominations and third-party nominations are permissible.

The expectations of a Director include:

• Preparing for and attending three Board meetings annually: a two-day meeting in August, a short meeting during the week of Metalcasting Congress and a two-day meeting in the winter (January/February). Directors are encouraged to participate in monthly Board webinars as well.
• Attending New Director Orientation in Schaumburg, Illinois, in August 2024.
• Attending at least one AFS conference every year.
• Assisting AFS Business Development with member recruitment, as necessary.
• And other assignments as they develop.

Considering the travel obligations and the time commitment required, candidates should have the support of their employers. If you make a third-party nomination, please ask the candidate to review the responsibilities and confirm their employer’s support. All submissions must be received by October 3, 2023.
