Congress should pass legislation to modernize America's burdensome permitting process, boosting the economy and improving the country's infrastructure in the process. This is the message the American Foundry Society is sending to lawmakers on Capitol Hill as part of the society’s focus on permit reform for metalcasters.
In a letter to the U.S. House of Representatives, AFS joined a coalition of trade groups calling on Congress to pass H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, which would reform the country’s permitting system and increase domestic energy and resource production. This message follows a separate push from business groups, including AFS, asking Congress to pass legislation to streamline the permitting process by the end of the summer. The House is expected to vote on H.R. 1 next week.
