An accomplished environmental engineer with extensive experience as an AFS volunteer leader has joined the American Foundry Society's staff as Technical Director.
Greg Kramer, P.E. comes to AFS from ME Global in Minnesota, where he served as Environmental Engineering Manager. He has a master’s degree in environmental health and safety from the University of Minnesota at Duluth, and a bachelor's in chemical engineering from the same institution.
As an AFS member, Kramer had a long history of volunteering for the EHS Division and its committees. As Technical Director, his foremost focus also will be in environmental health and safety. Kramer will coordinate AFS's EHS programming and serve as staff liaison for the EHS Division, among other duties.
“Promoting safety, health and environmental stewardship in foundries is one of AFS’s core services. As an AFS volunteer leader in recent years, Greg demonstrated a passion for assisting foundries and addressing industry challenges. He will bring that same passion and determination to his new role on the AFS staff,” said Doug Kurkul, CEO of AFS.
“Greg has hit the ground running at AFS, and he’s committed to helping our members achieve their EHS goals,” said Brian Began, Vice President of Metalcasting Technical Services. “His impressive professional resume, combined with his years of work with the EHS Division and commitment to superior member service, make him a great addition to our staff.”
Kramer started at AFS on March 7. He will work and travel from his home office in Minnesota and can be reached at gkramer@afsinc.org.
