One of the foremost experts in quality inspection has released a new book through the American Foundry Society.
Improving the Effectiveness of Visual Inspection, published this month by AFS, is the latest book from Ted J. Schorn. The book is based on Schorn’s firsthand experience examining different methods of improving visual inspection procedures to minimize and/or eliminate quality issues in manufactured products. Improving the Effectiveness of Visual Inspection covers topics such as measuring inspection performance, human requirements for effective visual inspection, handling damage reduction, and more. Schorn advises both customers and manufacturers how to improve the quality inspection of products before they leave a plant or arrive at a facility, only to have them returned for non-conformity.
Schorn has over 35 years of quality experience in automotive, aerospace and medical fields. He is author of Understanding the Wheel Fastening System on Trailers, published by the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers and the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association. Schorn led the development of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standard TSIC-1-2008, “Process Controls for Assembly of Wheels on Trailers” (R3013).
Schorn is vice president of quality and technology at Enkei America Inc., where he has worked for the last 29 years.
Improving the Effectiveness of Visual Inspection is available in hardcover from the AFS Store for $160. To learn more or to purchase the book, please click here.
