OSHA has announced a delay in the compliance date for establishments, including foundries, to electronically submit their injury and illness data from Dec. 1, 2017 to Dec. 15, 2017. Foundries are already required to keep injury and illness records, but did not have to submit the data to OSHA.
During the previous extension period, it appeared the agency might reconsider the rule, with a possibility of modifications or a complete revocation of the rule by Dec. 1, 2017. With the recent extension to Dec. 15, the rule will remain unchanged for the time being and covered employers must report by the new deadline.
As a reminder, metalcasters with 20 or more employees must submit their injury and illness information electronically from their 2016 Form 300A by Dec. 15, 2017. The agency’s revised final rule is scheduled to be published in the Nov. 24 Federal Register.
Reminder: AFS will be hosting a Members Only Webinar on Monday, Nov. 27 at 1:00 pm CST to discuss the new electronic reporting system. This webinar is free to AFS Members and will be recorded. Non-members may purchase access through the registration page. To register, click here.
