Testifying at the 2017 National Regulatory Fairness Hearing at the U.S. Small Business Administration Office of the National Ombudsman on Aug. 28, Brad Muller, AFS’ Government Affairs Chairman and Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Charlotte Pipe & Foundry Co., urged action on OSHA’s silica rule, and other onerous rulemakings and policies. Muller highlighted the need to create a more workable standard to replace the Occupational Exposure to Respirable Crystalline Silica rule, which is technologically and economically infeasible in the real world.
His testimony was part of SBA’s 2017 National Regulatory Fairness Hearing facilitated by the Office of the Ombudsman. According to the SBA, the purpose of this forum was to give small businesses and the organizations that represent them an opportunity to identify unfair and harmful federal regulations directly or indirectly affecting their ability to do business.
“For the U.S. metalcasting industry, unjustified and unnecessary regulations translate to higher costs” Muller said. AFS members are encouraged by the Trump administration’s efforts to bring to light and roll back costly and burdensome regulations.
