Newton will speak on "The Future of Transportation Mobility" and critical trends in the auto industry, including reviewing fuel economy standards and self-driving vehicles that could change the industry and public travel. Newton will also discuss other general shifts in the auto industry.
The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers represents 70% of car and light truck sales in the United States. Member companies include: Ford Motor Company, General Motors Company, BMW Group, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz USA, Mitsubishi Motors, Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen Group of America and Volvo Car USA.
“I’m pleased to be able to join the American Foundry Society for this event. The metalcasting industry is a big part of the complex supply chains that move the auto industry forward," said Newton. "The challenges and opportunities facing both industries are closely connected and it’s important that we continue having an open dialogue such as this."
Newton’s work has included all levels of strategic communications involving the auto industry's position on safety, environment and economic affairs, as well as working with the global industry trade association on worldwide policy communications. Newton is a seasoned communications expert with more than 20 years of experience managing complex communications matters. He has worked as a journalist, communications director for Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-Alabama) and served as the director of communications for Associated Builders and Contractors. Aderholt received the legislative Metalcasting Industry Eagle Award at the AFS Government Affairs Fly-In held in June in Washington, D.C.
