The annual AFS award winners have been announced by the AFS Board of Awards for presentation at Metalcasting Congress in Milwaukee, April 25-27.
The Gold Medal, Award of Scientific Merit, and Service Citation are presented annually for service to the metalcasting industry. Gary Gigante, retired CEO, Waupaca Foundry Inc. (Waupaca, Wisconsin), and Sara Joyce, vice president of quality and technical assurance, Badger Mining Corp. (Berlin, Wisconsin), will be given the industry’s top honor—the AFS Gold Medal, during the Annual Banquet on April 27.
Gigante will receive the Peter L. Simpson Gold Medal for long-term contributions to the sustainability of the metalcasting industry through environmental stewardship, technological advances, and the development of people in the industry.
Joyce will receive the William H. McFadden Gold Medal for technical contribution to the foundry industry through ground-breaking research, technical articles, and presentations, contributions to books, committee service, and a commitment to advancing the Industry.
