AFS worked closely with Representatives Bill Shuster (R-Penn.) and Bill Huizenga (R-Mich.) who spearheaded a letter on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) final crystalline silica rule to President Donald Trump. The silica letter, which garnered the support of over 80 House lawmakers, highlights their deep concerns with the regulatory burdens of OSHA’s silica rule on businesses in their states including foundries, construction, brick manufacturers, the maritime industry, and many more. Specially the letter urges the president and the new Secretary of Labor “to use any and all tools to delay, reopen, revise or nullify this costly and burdensome rule.”
The AFS/NAM legal challenge is now part of a consolidated case before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. AFS continues to work closely with our attorneys on the litigation and will be submitting a response brief to the Court by March 3. A date for oral arguments has not been announced by the D.C. Circuit at this time.
