U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-Michigan) visited Eagle Alloy Inc. (Muskegon, Michigan). The visit was part of a tour touting the importance of numerous growing small businesses in areas across the state, including Eagle Alloy’s Muskegon County.
“Small businesses are the backbone of Michigan’s economy and create the majority of new jobs, and this is as evident as ever in West Michigan,” Stabenow said in a news release. “It’s inspiring to see first-hand the work ethic, creativity and resilience of Michigan’s small businesses.
Jeff Cook, vice president-sales and marketing, Eagle Alloy, appreciated the visit.
“It was a pleasure hosting Senator Stabenow to hear about her efforts to grow small businesses in Michigan, to thank her for her efforts on our behalf in the past and to communicate to her the never-ending regulatory challenges we continue to face as metalcasters.” Cook said in a news release. “We look forward to working with her to continue removing roadblocks that put Michigan companies at a disadvantage on the global stage.”
According to local reports, Stabenow spoke with co-owners John Workman and Mark Fazakerley, and came away impressed with Eagle Alloy.
"Skilled workers are incredibly important," Stabenow said, according to MLive.com. "Skilled welders or electricians or machinists who are involved in the very foundations of making things -- These are actually exciting jobs and we need to expose young people to the opportunities in these fields."
