Accuride, Evansville, Indiana, announced that Brillion Iron Works, Brillion, Wisconsin, has been awarded a long-term contract to supply the flywheel used with the Detroit DT12 Automated Manual Transmission by the Detroit subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America.
According to a news release, Brillion was “named a strategic source of machined flywheels to Detroit in North America and will begin production of the components in the second half of 2016.”
Brillion will produce the flywheels through its collaboration with supplier Diamond Precision, Johnson Creek, Wisconsin, which will provide machining and final assembly.
“Brillion’s recent capital investments – coupled with our relentless focus on Lean manufacturing and our strong partnerships with Diamond Precision and the United Steelworkers – enabled Brillion Iron Works to competitively earn this new business from Detroit Diesel Corporation, a Daimler company,” said David G. Adams, president, Brillion Iron Works.
