Hillary Clinton Visits UNI Metal Casting Center

On Dec. 9, 2015, former First Lady and current Democratic candidate for president Hillary Clinton visited the University of Northern Iowa Metal Casting Center at the Cedar Valley, Iowa TechWorks campus in Waterloo, Iowa. There, she saw the University of Northern Iowa’s Additive Manufacturing Center, which includes the biggest 3-D printer in North America.

Clinton, the one-time Secretary of State and frontrunner for her party’s nomination, went on a tour led by Jerry Thiel, director, UNI’S Metal Casting Center. Students from UNI’s MCC also attended and answered questions for Clinton.

“Wow, that was impressive, and it was exciting to see what is happening right here in this area because of the great partnership between the University of Northern Iowa and Hawkeye Community College,” Clinton said during a town hall in Waterloo, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier.

According to the Courier, the tour also included Iowa Rep. Bob Kressig (D-Cedar Falls) and Iowa Sen. Bill Dotzler (D-Waterloo). They invited Clinton to see the facility when she visited Cedar Falls .
